Isaiah 55:6, 7....

Our verses today are Isaiah 55:6, 7 which reads:

Seek the LORD while He may be found;
Call upon Him while He is near.
Let the wicked forsake his way
And the unrighteous man his thoughts;
And let him return to the LORD,
And He will have compassion on him,
And to our God,
For He will abundantly pardon.

This is a great passage because it is an Old Testament passage that is pointing to salvation.  We are to "seek the Lord," "call upon Him," "forsake his (my) way," "return to the Lord and God," and we receive "compassion and pardon."
I think the easy part is to turn to the Lord or return back to the Lord and we love the compassion (that love in action) from the Lord and the abundant pardon that God has provided through His Son Jesus Christ.  These are all things that God has provided and even the idea that God is there, the Lord is there to turn to or return to.  The hard part for us is forsaking our ways and our thoughts.

Let the wicked (us, the guilty one) forsake (leave or depart from or abandon) his (my) way (road traveled, path taken) and the unrighteous man (us) his thoughts (devise or plan).

Is the path I'm on mine or God's?  Have I taken a detour thinking I will meet up again with His path eventually?  God says to turn around, forsake that path, that thought, and return to His and you will experience the compassion and abundant pardon from God.  It is hard to turn around and go back to where we just came from but God is giving directions of what we need to do.  Asking for directions - I know it's a guy thing - but guys the one you are getting directions from is God.
