Psalm 95:1-7a says....
Today's verses are Psalm 95:1-7a which reads,
"O come, let us sing for joy to the LORD,Let us shout joyfully to the rock of our salvation.
Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving,Let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms. For the LORD is a great God
And a great King about all gods,In whose hand are the depths of the earth,The peaks of the mountains are His also. The sea is His, for it as He who made it,
And His hands formed the dry land.Come, let us worship and bow down,
Let us kneel before the LORD our Maker. For He is our God,
And we are the people of His pasture and the sheep of His hand."
Lets first look at all the actions that we are to do.
The word for "come" includes the idea of physically moving.
The word for "sing" includes the idea of being overcome by what you are rejoicing about.
The word for "shout" includes the idea of giving a blast!
The word for "come" in verse 6 is another word that emphasizes coming into a place.
The word for "kneel" includes the idea of blessing.
We are to physically move to God or a place designated to Him with joy and thanksgiving and being overcome by who He is and raise our voices above the norm about this. We are to enter into a place where we come with reverence and blessing to the One who made us.
Do you see both sides here? We are to be "loud" about God and then even though we may be "soft" to our God in volume, I think that action speaks very "loudly" about who He is to us. What are we "soft and loud" about?
He is our salvation. He is a great God. He is a great King. He is the creator of the earth and all things (the depths, the peaks, the sea, the dry land) are in His hands. He is our Maker. He is our God. We are His people. And just as all that is created is in His hands, so are we in His hands.
Today is a day to gather with others to raise our voices (to be overcome) to our God and also bow our knees (bless and reverence) to Him.
