2 Chronicles 9:8...The Queen of Sheba...

Today verse is 2 Chronicles 9:8 which reads,

"Blessed be the LORD your God who delighted in you, setting you on His throne as king for the LORD your God; because your God loved Israel establishing them forever, therefore He made you king over them, to do justice and righteousness."
The back story to this verse is that the Queen of Sheba (Sheba which is located in southwestern Arabia about 1200 miles from Jerusalem) made a journey to see King Solomon and experience for herself what she had been hearing about his wisdom and devotion to the Lord.

She asked him many difficult questions and his answers and actions left her with "no more spirit in her" (breathless, nothing to say).  The Queen of Sheba willingly gave the credit to Solomon's God with the wisdom he was displaying and giving.

Solomon was the official representation of the religion of Israel.  When people thought of Judaism, they thought of King Solomon or anyone else who was king.  That is why the Queen of Sheba came to see him to get a better picture of the God that he followed.
Today, the church is the official representation of Christianity.  The disciples were given the commandment by Jesus to go and make disciples of all nations.  We hold the Gospel of the Bible and the command to live it and share it.  So we will have "Queens of Sheba" who will still come to the church to see if all of what they are hearing and seeing is really true.  They will visit and what will they hear and what will they see?  Will they come away breathless because their view of our God is what He says because they saw and heard it from us?

I am so thankful that the Queen of Sheba easily gives the credit to God.  Look back at the verse and what is underlined.

"Blessed be the LORD your God who delighted in you, setting you in His throne as king for the LORD your God; because your God loved Israel establishing them forever, therefore He made you king over them, to do justice and righteousness."
When we are Christians and churches that are living our lives in a way that is to glorify God with total surrender, those who are seeking will make the connection to the God that we love and serve.  I am sure that one of the ways that connection will be made easier is because we just can't stop talking about Him.
