Proverbs 3:19-22 says,...

Today's verses are Proverbs 3:19-22, which read,

v.19, 20 - The LORD by wisdom founded the earth, by understanding He established the heavens.  By His knowledge the deeps were broken up and the skies drip with dew.

Creation didn't just happen, it happened by the wisdom and understanding of God.  God founded and established both earth and the heavens.  Those words are action words tied to activity that happened before the event was to take place.  God used His wisdom, understanding, and knowledge to create what we see in such a way to sustain itself for our benefit for a determined amount of time.  The deeps were broken up so that land appeared for us to live upon and the skies drip dew to replenish that land that provides the food that sustains our lives.

The wisdom, understanding, and knowledge of God run deep and back to before we were or anything that we see was.  It is not only tried and true but it has history that is being relied upon by nature itself that we trust like the sun coming up this morning to bring our world to life.  God's wisdom, understanding, and knowledge are more than just words on a page of ancient papyrus but rather action words applied to the world we live in that He thought out, founded, established, fashioned, and developed.

v.21, 22 - My son, let them not vanish from your sight; keep sound wisdom and discretion, so they will be life to your soul and adornment to your neck.

It is interesting that in the context of this passage and describing the wisdom of God that we are to hold onto and not let vanish from our sight is that fact of creation by our Creator God.  This is probably one of the first things that Christians drop off as they enter the world of "other" options.  Charles Darwin did when he decided that he would come up with "another" wisdom of how the world came to be.  Creation as recorded in the opening verses of Genesis is attacked in our world and it comes at it hard and it comes at it early.  I admire the work of Ken Ham and the Creation Museum and the Ark Encounter.  Here is a man who is not letting this wisdom of God vanish from his sight and adorning it around his neck as he gives a very physical witness to the opening words of the book of Genesis.

God's wisdom is to be kept.  Let it not vanish from your sight.  Put God's wisdom on like a necklace that can be seen by all.  An example of this would be that you don't just put on that cross necklace but you are living your life in relationship to the One who died upon it.  You can tell others readily who Your Savior is and what was done by Him for you.  The gospel is kept by you and not out of your sight and if that is so others will readily see it.  What wisdom are you wearing?  Let's pray.

"Lord, how we have abandoned Your wisdom, understanding, and knowledge and replaced it with others or our own.  We repent of this practice and help us to lay our eyes upon what You have said and done for us, especially that of the cross.  May what people see around our neck be a reflection of You and what You have created rather than something we have fashioned together with our finite hands and minds.  Amen."
