Chemo hiccups...a great photo...and a serious look at sin...
Let's start with a great photo. We took our second men's retreat up in the U.P. and here is the shot from the shore of Lake Superior. I was only able to make it to part of this but it was a great time.
Chemo hiccups, never heard of them but I have experienced them. This is round 3 of chemo and I had some new side effects faster. I went into a state of anxiety or depression at the infusion center and couldn't keep my head up and then it subsided. Next I broke out in hives on my face and one hand and was given some medicine to make that go away. Then I came home to experience excessive burping leading to hiccups that lasted a good 10 hours. I did my google search and found this to be a common side effect that I had not experienced yet. Last night if I rolled from side to side they would start up again and nothing seem to take them away. This morning is better but I can say that my head is clearer than it has been through any round of chemo. Today is freedom day of the pump at about 3 p.m.
Church-wise I went back through the year to look at home much of the Bible we have covered this year. On Sunday mornings we have covered the books of James, 1 Peter, 2 Peter, 1 John, this Sunday is 2 John, and we should get through 3 John and Jude by the end of the year. On the Sunday night Bible Study we have covered Galatians, Ephesians, Phillippians, Colossians, we start 1 Thessalonians and should get through 2 Thessalonians before year end. Also, I have experienced over the year that as I have been pulled out of the way because of cancer, things that I have been praying about for the church are emerging through the leadership of others. I have not been pushing just praying and God is leading others to create ministries within the body of the church.
Lastly, I want to post this list of sins that James MacDonald, who is the pastor at the Harvest Bible Chapel in Chicago, included in his latest sermon on repentance. It is a serious list to challenge us to get serious about sin.
