Happy Resurrection Morn...Galatians 3:15-18 tells of "a" Seed...

Today's verses are Galatians 3:15-18, which read,

v.15 - Brethren, I speak in terms of human relations:  even though it is only a man's covenant, yet when it has been ratified, no one sets it aside or adds conditions to it.

When you make a human deal, you stick to the terms of the deal.  When you shake on it or sign on the dotted line, the agreement is the agreement.  Maybe even better, when you with a loved one giving you a request on their death bed, you follow it to a "t" to accomplish what they have asked.

v.16 - Now the promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed.  He does not say, "And to seeds," as referring to many, but rather to one, "And to your seed," that is, Christ.

Paul says there has been a deal done between not man and Abraham but God and Abraham.  If you follow through on man's deals, what about when God's deals?  Paul also starts to get technical here with the words of the deal.  God did not say "seeds" but "seed," not plural but singular.  From Abraham "a" Seed would come that would fulfill all of God's promises and "that" Seed is Jesus Christ.

v.17 - What I am saying is this:  the Law, which came four hundred and thirty years later, does not invalidate a covenant previously ratified by God, so as to nullify the promise.

More technical talk from Paul here with the mention of years.  This promise of "a" Seed was given to Abraham and then to his son Isaac and then to his son Jacob.  From the last time it is recorded to the time that Moses received the 10 commandments on Mount Sinai is 430 years.  Just because the Law came into being does not mean that God is not going to "make good" on His word about "a" Seed.

v.18 - For if the inheritance is based on law, it is no longer based on a promise; but God has granted it to Abraham by means of a promise.

Our inheritance is not based on the written word but on the living Lord of the promise of God.  Today signifies that day that the promise of God was fulfilled for all who believe in Christ.  The Law pointed to Him but never is to take the place of Him and His salvation.  The Law has its place in the overall story of God but the promise of "a" Seed validates everything that God has said.

Happy Resurrection Morning and the fulfillment that God made through Abraham to the world of "a" Seed named Christ that has grown and continues to grow with every one coming to Jesus Christ as their Savior.

"Lord, thank You for Your promise.  Your word before the written word is faithful and true.  We gather in a place today to lift up the name of the Seed, Jesus Christ.  He is risen, He is risen indeed!!!!  Amen."
