Galatians 3:10-14 says,...

Today's verses are Galatians 3:10-14, which read,

v.10-12 - For as many as are of the works of the Law are under a curse; for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who does not abide by all things written in the book of the Law, to perform them."  Now that no one is justified by the Law before God is evident; for, "The righteous man shall live by faith."  However, the Law is not of faith; on the contrary, "He who practices them shall live by them."

Paul is continuing to complete this truth about the Law and about faith.

Point number one is found in Deuteronomy 27:26 that those who are trying to keep every law of the Law will not only fail at the attempt but you will be cursed for trying to work to get your salvation.

Point number two is found in Habakkak 2:4 that it is a biblical fact that the people of God will live by faith.

Point number three is found in Leviticus 18:5 that the Law is not contrary to this life of faith but rather it has a purpose to give us structure of how we will live this life of faith in God.  It is the "how to" to what has been done.

Paul digs deep into the Old Testament to show that the Law itself is pointing to this life of faith and a righteous that is given to us through faith.  The Law is a precursor to point out our sin and the need of a Savior.

v.13, 14 - Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse for us--for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree"--in order than in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that we would receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

I am always amazed as I study through Scripture of how it will come to point we are even looking at this weekend.  Jesus hung on that tree.  Jesus who was perfect with the Law which we can not became the curse for us so that we might live a life of faith in Him.  This life of faith was for all nationalities and not just the Jews and along with that comes the Holy Spirit.

Jesus hung there on purpose.  It wasn't because Judas got his way, Satan got his way, the religious leaders got their way, or the Romans and Pilate got their way.  Jesus was there on purpose because God was playing out the plan that was spoken of in the Law of a Savior who would give His life so that we could have life and the Spirit.  Paul goes back to Deuteronomy 21:23 for this fact.

One word to look at is "redeemed."  "Christ redeemed us from the curse..."  To be redeemed means "by payment of a price to recover from the power of another, to ransom, buy off."  That is what Jesus did for you, He paid the price with His life to recover you from the power of Satan.

Don't live your life like you don't need Him and you have this taken care of on your own.  You may have needed Him at one point but you are past that.  No....live your life every day in the light that Someone gave up heaven for a time to give you the opportunity to live there forever.  You can not pay this back and it was never meant to be paid back.  It was a gift that you live out the rest of your life with a life that points to Him, your Savior.

"Lord, may I see You so vividly today.  When I see a cross in an unusual place, may I stop to say 'thanks' again for the love that I don't deserve.  May I have the opportunity to point out to another, 'hey, there is a cross' and speak of You because I have nothing if I don't have You and because of You I have everything.  Amen."
