Monday Reflections...Explore God, Pilgrim's Progress, & Prayer Update

Good Monday morning for north central Illinois and another layer of snow.  I guess I know what my afternoon activities will be.

We are finishing up the Explore God series this Sunday morning.  It has been great to look at these 7 questions and to receive from God's Word some answers for us as Christians.  Here are the 7 popular questions asked.

  1. Does Life Have a Purpose?
  2. Is There a God?
  3. Why Does God Allow Pain & Suffering?
  4. Is Christianity Too Narrow?
  5. Is Jesus Really God?
  6. Is the Bible Reliable?
  7. Can I Know God Personally?
We continued through our study through the Gospel of Luke and came up with this grid to give an answer to these questions.

How do we answer...
  • our purpose - seek God's kingdom
  • our God - sights on Jesus
  • our pain & suffering - strive to obey
  • our narrow way - "settle now" proclamation
  • our Jesus - strong saving statements from Him
  • our Bible - study the actual text
  • our relationship - standing at His door
I also want to promote a new version of Pilgrim's Progress that is coming to the "big screen" this Easter season.  This is a tremendous story by John Bunyan that needs to be told over and over again.  Here is the official trailer.

Here is an extended scene called "The Swamp of Despondency."

Here is another extended scene called "The Hill Of Salvation."

One last image to leave with you is a prayer update of our friend Jonathon.  We asked for prayer about a month ago.  He was one of the soldier's injured in the bombing in Syria.  He is now on American soil and receiving surgeries to put his life back together.  Keep praying for upcoming surgeries and rehab.  I leave you with a picture of him and his first meeting with his son.  I think the picture says it all.
