Home and catching up...

After a great week at Alpena Family Camp, we are home to mow the lawn and tend to the garden and catch up paperwork and contacts at the church.  Even though you sometimes drag yourself to camp, God always gives times and people that let you know you are their for a reason larger than the duties you perform.  "Revelation Song" was the hit of the camp and I was thankful for a renewed friendship with the speaker this year.  Both Stephanie and I are so thankful not only for the unit we get to stay in there but also for a few days of down time between services.

Daniel is coming to life on Wednesday nights.  I have studied this book a long time ago and I have preached the common sermons from the big stories (lion's den, fiery furnace, etc.) but now I am looking at the in between passages.  The dream and the interpretation at the end of chapter 2 is amazing.  God gave Daniel a history lesson before it ever happened and it is a history lesson of all time.  Way before the book of Revelation and the thought that we know who wins in the end is the book of Daniel that proclaims it first.  "...never be destroyed...shall stand forever...by no human hand..."  are all phrases that point to God and the second coming of Christ.

Sunday morning was another highlight for me.  It was a praying Sunday and the altars were filled at the end of the service for all types of requests and all ages.  The church responded with extended concerted prayer for one another.  We are not to big to stop everything and go a different route.  I wonder if that would still be possible or if we would follow the Spirit's lead so freely if we were double this size?  I would hope so.  The study of Matthew challenged us last Sunday about the "extras" we have in life.  This week it will challenge us about the "necessities" of life.  All I have is the Lord's.

After you have cancer and think you have it licked and you can rest a bit, especially from the bills associated with it, for the next year you realize that the year after cancer is just as heavy so maybe the second year will be different.  I have been able to extend out the appointments and minimize the attention to me but then I am not the only one in the family.  God continues to provide for our needs and I am also so thankful for the ability along with Stephanie to work hard also.  God is still good and He is still great and I will wait to see Him play out the plan for our lives.
