Proverbs 24:11-14 says,...

Today's verses are Proverbs 24:11-14, which read,

v. 11, 12 - Deliver those who are being taken away to death, and those who are staggering to slaughter, oh hold them back.  If they say, "See, we did not know this," does He not consider it who weighs the hearts?  And does He not know it who keeps your soul?  And will He not render to man according to his work?

The proverb this morning is in the form of a petition and some questions.  He is calling out to God to deliver those who are walking in the way of the foolish.  "God, put something or someone in their path to get their attention to the road they are on and where it is heading."  Many are on the wide road that leads to destruction and many are just following all the others on the road rather than seeking out what is true.  Some are leading people down that road and others are just following those who are leading like there is no other way or option.  I think we have called these "the naive" before.

God is the judge here.  God considers their hearts.  God keeps their souls.  God renders judgment on their work.  We might have a human evaluation of that person and hopefully in relationship to what is in the Bible but God knows so much more than we do and thankfully so.  God knows the end of the story of everyone's life.  So our part is to pray to the God who knows all and call out to Him to see transformation happen to those who are not following after Him at this time.

v. 13, 14 - My son, eat honey, for it is good, yes, the honey from the comb is sweet to your taste; know that wisdom is thus for your soul.  If you find it, then there will be future, and your hope will not be cut off.

I love the honey verses because I love honey.  It was used to heal my wounds after my surgery 6 years ago this month.  It wasn't until we packed the wound with honey that things started to heal rapidly.  I also would eat honey from the comb every morning on toast which was my sweet treat but it was also healing my intestinal system.  I had a personal relationship going with my local bee keeper.  The proverb is making an analogy here to tie honey with wisdom.

Like honey that is healing and also sweet, so is wisdom.  Wisdom brings healing when applied to the wounds of life.  Wisdom is sweet when taken in and it gets sweeter as it works within our lives.  Keep applying wisdom to your life.  Keep taking wisdom in on a regular basis.  It is an active process as presented in these verses for you are searching for it.  I love honey and therefore the question is, "Do I love wisdom?"  Let us pray.

"Lord, thank You for supplying the honey of wisdom to our lives.  Thank You for knowing our hearts, souls, and work.  Put within us who are seeking to follow after to You to pray for those who are not or naively following the crowd who have cast Your wisdom aside.  May they taste the honey of Your wisdom and have a taste for nothing else.  Amen."
