29 years ago today...
29 years ago today...Stephanie and I stood at an altar and pledged our faith to one another for a lifetime. Well the lifetime isn't over yet and so the loving needs to keep going. I truly do love her more now than I did then and I can only say that because of the experiences we have had over the years. You think you are so in love at that altar but you have no idea the depth that it can go. So here is to another 29 that would put us at 58 years together and if the Lord tarries we should be able to make it.
Our continued study in 1 Peter is so enlightening to me. The thought of this faith, a conviction of a truth, but faith in what? Peter gives us the object of that faith - a salvation provided by Jesus through His life, death, and resurrection. A salvation that is from old passed down through the ages and prophesied by the prophets to reach forward to a time that you would hear and experience the gospel and say yes to Jesus and the angels would rejoice. What depth there is to this salvation. After remembering God in the midst of the persecution and voicing praise over who God is, and the testing of our faith which gives its proof, and the glory of salvation - Peter starts the next passage with "preparing our minds for action." We don't walk into this persecution passively but with great action on our part because of what God has already done. I can't wait for next Sunday!!!
Two interviews last week. Very similar churches in theology and even their start date of 1892. It is quite a challenge to answer questions of belief and Scriptures and thinking on the fly about "what you would do in this situation." I couldn't help but think that "regular" interviews never get to this level but we are talking about eternal things here. Pray as we wait to hear a response to these developments.
