A day outside and so thankful for our beautiful Michigan weather...
The colors are out in northern Michigan and the weather is perfect for those get ready for winter chores. We are so blessed to live where we do. Stephanie and I were able to have our lunch on the deck under the umbrella.
Here is the south garden, tilled up and ready for the winter. We actually transplanted a bunch of herbs in the boxes to the left and also a couple of rows of strawberries that are still flowering. The end of this garden will be connecting with the back garden next year.
This is the back garden, also known as the greens garden. It is going great guns and we hope that we can pick as long as last year - December 1st. We have it heavenly fortified to keep out the deer that are more numerous this year. We have plans to erect a better fence for next year. We also hope to extend this garden about 12 feet.
This is the north garden tilled and ready for the winter. There are a couple rows of spinach and parsley and dill to be harvested or transplanted. This garden we are going to retire this year and seed back to grass.
This is another view of the greens garden from the deck. It is amazing to me that we can grow this much food in the woods. We have been taking into our church a large bag of greens almost every Sunday to share.
Did I tell you I got a new (used) bike? Haha. It seems that I can't stop talking about this find, a $1100.00 bike in 1997 that I picked up at a Goodwill for $50. Tonight I got to ride a 16 mile loop and did it in under an hour. What a great way to end the day. I am still trying to get used to the aero bars. Now to some couch time with my wife and maybe a google video chat with our kids.
Saturday is another day to cut some wood and enjoy God's great outdoors.
