A productive Saturday...

I am thankful for enough mechanical ability to tackle some car repairs.  Pictured is the two rear hub assemblies out of the 2003 Saturn Vue that has about 230,000 miles on it.  These have been changed a few times but this was my turn at it and saving us a ton of money in the process.  I was so glad that I had to tackle the hard one first so that the second one came out in just minutes.  God provides, He just many times uses our hands to see it happen. So wheel bearing done, taxes done for Steph and I and the boys, the boys fafsa's done, sermon pretty much nailed down, driveway snowblowed as I watch another new layer come down, and a ride on the snowmobile to check our neighbors properties while they are gone.  So yeah I am going to really enjoy a fresh, hot piece of homemade bread coming out of the oven. So Sunday's sermon is going to be another great time to share what I have been getting from the Lord.  I am playing off the events around the Transf...

2 great paragraphs...and a photo of my home turf...

I have been reading a book I got for Christmas titled "The Explicit Gospel" by Matt Chandler.  Here are a couple great paragraphs toward the end of the book that sums up the content quite well.  This has been a very good read.     "The issue with an assumed gospel is that it is often too personal and, therefore, becomes private.  People who live under the assumption of the gospel often know how it relates to their life, but nobody else does.  Their kids never see how the gospel affects decisions, arguments, finances, etc.  Their neighbors never hear of the hope within.  Their coworkers are left to wonder about what makes them different.  Those who live under the assumed gospel often find it awkward to bring it up an d learn to articulate the implications of Christ's atoning work in their life.      On the contrary, those who are explicit about the gospel in their relationships h...

This was some of the inspiration for the sermon this Sunday...David Platt says it so powerfully. Adam

Ugh, I hate cancelling a service or Bible study...

So the rain is falling and the temperature doing the same so our study tonight of Acts will be delayed for another week.  Who knew that church would be so weather related.  Steph and I skated home after the cancellation but knew it was the right thing to do.      Sunday morning wrap up is another great time in the house.  Last week Jesus gave us the definition of His church.  His church is a group that hold to the statement that Peter gave that was given to him by God that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God.  This week Jesus gave us the definition of a follower of Jesus.  His follower denies themselves, takes up his cross, and follows Him daily.  His followers come to the fact that we are nothing and He is everything.  They come to love Jesus enough to lay down their life for Him.  They set their minds on the things of God every day.      Jesus is going to lead u...

Just a few of "my" thoughts...

"My" thoughts because I am not a doctor or even in the medical field but I have went through a medical crisis that drove me to dig for some answers to help me and they have.  I have went one year without animal products (no meat - red or white, no dairy, no butter, no eggs, no fish, etc.) and I have lived off of veggies and fruits, nuts and lentils, beans and whole grains.  A recent visit to the local supermarket sparked another conversation about my grocery cart contents.  "Are you one of those vegetarians?"  "Well, kind of."  He was curious because he had made changes to his diet and dropped 50 pounds and reversed his diabetes status, no medicine.  He was asking about taking the next step and dropping chicken and cheese.        Why did I do this?  Because I was given chemotherapy and I wanted to do something to rebuild my immune system.  Everything that I was watching and reading said in o...

Didn't watch much of the game but this is worth it...

Down Downton Abbey won out over the game but this is such a great commercial and I love hearing the voice of Paul Harvey.

Another great video clip from Paul Tripp...

We can know all the answers but not live them.  Even more dangerous is that we can know all the answers and think that is enough or even a rationalization to continue to do wrong.  The church can be fertile ground to propagate the idea of knowing is more important than doing.  Let's make the church fertile ground to propagate the action of doing with what we know.
