Coming to the Still Waters

Today's verses are Proverbs 13:5-8, which read, v.5 - A righteous man hates falsehood, but a wicked man acts disgustingly and shamefully. The just or the lawful man hates lies and deception but the criminal man creates an ashamedly bad smell with his life.  Sin is wrong but do you hate sin?  Does it turn your stomach?  If it doesn't then you will probably not do what you need to do biblically when you sin.  It will probably not lead to confession that leads to continued transformation to be more like Christ.   You will start to live in sin or with sin.  I know that we usually think of the certain situation of cohabitation when we say that phrase  "live in sin"  but it is anytime that we live with any sin unconfessed and it creates a bad smell in our lives.  It is something that is rotting inside of us and eventually will come out in some type of action. v.6 - Righteousness guards the one whose way is blameless, but wickedness...

Today's verses are Proverbs 13:1-4, which read, v.1 - A wise son accepts his father's discipline, but a scoffer does not listen to rebuke. We all need discipline from our Father God.  It shows that we are part of His family.  God gives discipline and it displays that He loves us.  He wouldn't be loving us if He did not discipline us.  Being a parent means that you will need to discipline your child not just out of love but because it is included in love.  It will be a rebuke that something is not right and needs correction and you are in the position to make that call just as God does for His children when they vary from the path of His footsteps. A wise son accepts this discipline from his father.  The scoffer doesn't even listen to the instruction.  The word for discipline fills it out with other words like chasten, instruct, admonish, and correct.  It is much more than telling someone  "I told you so"  or giving out some ...
