A weekend at WCC...blessed again to see more of God's wonderful family!!!

It has almost been a month since my last post.  (Sorry about that 😞)  My life has been very busy with my online classes and also preparing for this weekend trip to WCC (Weymouth Community Church) just outside of Medina, Ohio.  I will add a few more poorly taken photos throughout this post and finish with a video from the sermon given on Sunday morning.

It was a great weekend and what is left before a move there to serve with them is some paperwork and the securing of our housing.  WCC is a historical church in Medina County that has been given a new opportunity to reach into the community it has been placed by God.  The church is made up of the attenders of WCC but I am always thankful for the facilities (the church building) that God provides through His children to use for ministry opportunities.  WCC has many physical attributes that are ready to house discipleship and evangelistic type of events.

The blessing for Stephanie and I was the opportunity to witness another part of God's family in action with each other.  We have this unique position to be encouraged by seeing up close another congregation that loves God and His word and is striving to love others.  It is great to experience that kinship with others and it is because we love and have been transformed by the same Savior, Jesus Christ.  We spend time reading the same book, the Bible, and we strive in holiness for the glory of our great God.  Friendships start to form but they are already at a greater depth because what is held in common is for eternity.

The weekend was quick but also very full of important conversations with elders, ministry leaders and the worshippers of WCC.  We parked the car in the economy lot of the Tampa airport on Friday at 2:25 AM and got back to it on Monday at 12:27 AM!  It was a weekend to introduce another congregation to the ministry of IPM (Interim Pastor Ministries).  I couldn't help comparing this congregation with the previous congregation I served in Maine.  I sometimes see the same people but one that jumped off the page at me was the greeter at WCC named Don.  Don was so much like the main greeter at MVBC (Machias Valley Baptist Church) named Craig, now passed but with the Lord.  It was more than serving in a common ministry role but the mannerisms and interest in me were similar to a "t." Now the accent was different but the heart for others was identical.  I would have loved to see Craig and Don together and I am sure they would have been fast friends and quite the duo inviting people into the church building to hear about Jesus Christ.

I had the opportunity in the morning sermon to recap my study and preaching series of Acts up to the point of chapter 8.  Over 2 months away from the pulpit, in a new setting, new progressive glasses, and unfamiliar faces other than Stephanie's hopefully didn't show how unsure I felt launching into the preaching of God's words.  The sermon title was "Transition Time" and the goal was to see in the past how God moved powerfully during the time of transition in the book of Acts and more narrowly with a focus between the well knowns, Peter and Paul, and the nobody, Stephen.  May we not waste a transition that God has put us in so that we can let it transform us more into Christ's likeness.
